Big Glen Burnie Carnival Nets Smaller Profit This Year
The Glen Burnie Improvement Association made about 8.6 percent less than it did last year.
With three days of rain putting a wrench in things, the annual saw a dip of about 8.6 percent in profits this year, (GBIA) President Barbara Moeller reported Tuesday.
"Even with three nights of rain we made a net profit," she said during the organization's monthly regular membership meeting.
Profit has decreased over the past three years, according to a financial report shared with members.

Funds raised at the carnival, the group's largest fundraiser of the year, are used to maintain the building and to make cash contributions to local nonprofit groups, such as scouts, sports leagues, schools and other charities.
"All though this wasn't our best carnival, it wasn't our worst," said GBIA Treasurer Nancy Brown. "And we missed a hurricane and an earthquake by only two or three weeks. So it could have been a lot worse."
