GBHS Athletic Department Hosts Successful Blood Drive
With a goal of collecting 40 units of blood, members of Glen Burnie High School's athletic department gathered more than 50 units of blood Thursday before heading off for winter break.
 students and faculty worked together Thursday to host a blood drive sponsored by the athletic department.
A team of students worked together to make sure the blood drive ran smoothly while collecting 10 hours of community service, according to Athletic Director Bruce Sider.
Sider said the group gathered 51 units of blood, exceeding its goal of 40 units.

Participating students included: Andrea Barton, track; Nadine Peake, track; Thomas Darden, wrestling; Taylor Tilghman, basketball; Garrett Brown, basketball; Valerie Miner, cheer; Brianna Lassiter, cheer; Andre Fiesler, basketball; Kreghan Rebstock, basketball; Rachel Norfolk, swimming; Devin Keller, wrestling; Richie Brown, swimming; Diana DeGraw, basketball and Grady Sider from .
Sider said that due to the success of last week's event, he hopes to hold another blood drive in May or June—this time as a two-day event.
