Glen Burnie Man Pleads Guilty in Reckless Driving Accident

Patrick Ryan Galliher, 22, caused a four-car accident last year that injured either others.

A Glen Burnie man pleaded guilty in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court on Tuesday to driving recklessly and , according to The Capital.

Patrick Ryan Galliher, 22, of the 7000 block of Cresthaven Drive told officers he didn't want to be late for his nephew's birthday party when he was driving at 88 miles per hour on Marley Neck Boulevard last January, the Capital reported.

According to police, on Jan. 8, 2011, a Toyota was traveling east at the same time a Mercury—driven by Galliher—was traveling west on Marley Neck Boulevard near Tanyard Springs Lane. According to witness statements made to the police, the Mercury was being operated recklessly by crossing the double-yellow line into oncoming traffic and passing vehicles that also were traveling westbound on Marley Neck Boulevard.

The Mercury crossed the double-yellow line and stick the Toyota head on, police said. The Toyota was struck from behind by the Nissan that was directly behind it, which in turn was struck from behind by a Mercedes SUV.

Galliher is scheduled to be sentenced on May 24, according to online court records.
