Grand Jury Indicts Teen in Fatal 2011 Accident

A Millersville teen faces negligent manslaughter charges stemming from an accident in Crofton last summer that killed a Glen Burnie man.

A Millersville teen is facing charges from a July 2011 accident that left a Glen Burnie man dead.

Elizabeth Ramirez, 19, of the 600 block of Wheat Mill Court in Millersville was indicted by a grand jury in February and arraigned on Monday, according to online court records. She is charged with negligent manslaughter, reckless driving, driving without a license and other charges.

According to police, Ramirez had a learner's permit on July 31 when the Jeep Grand Cherokee she was driving attempted to turn left at about 1:40 a.m. from southbound Maryland Route 3 onto Davidsonville Road. The Jeep hit a Ford Crown Victoria, driven by Firdaus, on Route 3.

At the time, police said the preliminary investigation revealed no evidence that drugs, alcohol or excessive speed contributed to the crash. Police also discovered that Ramirez was using a relative’s vehicle without knowledge or consent.

Ramirez was on probation for a previous traffic citation when the accident occurred last July, according to The Baltimore Sun. She is scheduled to stand trial on May 31.
