Kazakhstan Officials Include Glen Burnie in U.S. Visit
AAA Mid-Atlantic Executives Share Traffic Safety and Driver Education Best Practices at Glen Burnie Car Care Insurance and Travel Center

AAA Mid-Atlantic hosted transportation officials from the country of Kazakhstan at AAA’s Car Care, Insurance and Travel Center in Glen Burnie. The Kazakhstani delegation is visiting the United States under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program and the World Trade Center Institute in Baltimore. The group is visiting Maryland on a program entitled “Driver Education and Training,” and sought to meet with AAA to review how federal, state, and local agencies, as well as traffic safety groups, such as AAA, work together in the interest of traffic safety.
The visitors, which included the Chairperson of the Professional Confederation of Transport Workers of Kazakhstan; Deputy Director of the Department of Logistics and Transportation for the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic Kazakhstan; and, Senior Inspector on Special Assignments, Administration Police Committee for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, also expressed an interest in learning more about emerging traffic safety trends and vehicle technology.
Ragina Cooper Averella, AAA Mid-Atlantic’s Public and Government Affairs Manager provided the group with an overview of the organization’s century-long commitment to traffic safety and advocacy to include AAA’s efforts nationwide to pass stronger Graduated Drivers Licensing (GDL) laws for teens, distracted driving laws, and move over laws. She also shared information regarding AAA’s focus on impaired driving, as well as the club’s involvement nationwide in the autonomous and connected vehicle world.

AAA Mid-Atlantic’s Director of Driver Services, Kurt Gray addressed the group about the life cycle of driving to include how novice and teen drivers are licensed through the various Graduated Drivers Licensing (GDL) programs in Maryland and across the country, as well as senior driver education and driver’s licensing and driver improvement programs.
