Linthicum Open House Raises Money for Outreach Programs

Linthicum resident Granville Gilbert has delighted visitors with his extravagant Christmas decorations.

For at least the past 25 years, Granville Gilbert has opened his home to the community for two weekends in December to spread holiday cheer while raising money to help those in need.

Since 1987, the Linthicum resident has extravagantly decorated his home to help others share in the joy of the season.

"I never thought this would still be going on so long," he said. "I tell people if you're here and go out my door with a smile on your face, then I did my job."

He said he'd always decorated his house, but over the years it has become more extravagant.

"I have an addicition. I love to go to the Christmas shop," he said. "Those day-after-Christmas sales are great."
