Loved Ones Hold Vigil for Teen Killed in Elkridge Accident

A vigil was held Saturday at North County High School to remember Jeffrey Ryan Giles, 19, of Linthicum who died in a car accident in Elkridge Friday night, according to The Capital.

About 150 people gathered at on Saturday night to remember Jeffrey Ryan Giles, 19, of Linthicum, a 2010 graduate of the school who was , according to The Capital.

Giles and Jonathon Lloyd Deckman, 18, of Severn, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred Friday night when the car they and three others were traveling in hit a tree on Lawyers Hill Road in Elkridge, Howard County police said.

Another vigil will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at Heritage Community Church (HCC) in Severn for Deckman, according to the church's website.

"HCC Family, be sure of this truth; Jesus said that in this world we will have trouble, and losing a child is at the very top of the trouble list," wrote the Rev. Steve Hall, lead pastor at HCC. "However, we do not live as those who have no hope, for Jesus continued his commentary on trouble by affirming that we need not fear this world’s trouble for he has overcome the world."

Deckman graduated from in 2010, the Capital reported.
