Police said a Toyota was traveling east at the same time a Mercury—driven by Galliher—was traveling west on Marley Neck Boulevard near Tanyard Springs Lane. According to what witnesses told police, the Mercury was being operated recklessly by crossing the double yellow line into oncoming traffic and passing vehicles that also were traveling westbound on Marley Neck Boulevard.
The Mercury crossed the double yellow line and struck the Toyota head-on, police said. A Nissan struck the Toyota from behind by a Nissan and was in turn struck from behind by a Mercedes SUV.
