Motorists Advised To Avoid King George Drive Due To Downed Trees
Anne Arundel County officials pinpointed one road closure in Glen Burnie. There are dozens more closed across the country.
GLEN BURNIE, MD — Motorists are advised to avoid King George Drive and Oakwood Road in Glen Burnie where all lanes are closed in all directions due to trees lying in the road from Tropical Storm Isaias. Anne Arundel County officials noted that the road was closed as of Tuesday morning. It may remain closed through Thursday until crews can arrive to clear the site. Current road closures can be viewed at Maryland’s Road Closure Reporter.
Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman said that even though the tropical storm has moved out of the area, more than 17,000 households are without power. Upwards of 50 or more roads remain closed as of 2 p.m. according to Maryland’s Road Closure Reporter. Parts of the county received almost 6 inches of rain while others saw wind gusts surpassing 50 miles an hour.
