North County Football Coach Retires

After a disappointing season, Gary Liddick has stepped down as coach but will continue to teach social studies at the school, according to the Maryland Gazette.

princial Bill Heiser announced last week that football coach Gary Liddick has decided to retire, according to the Maryland Gazette.

Liddick, who spent the last nine of his 26 years of coaching at North County, said he will continue to teach social studies at the school but is ready to "pass the torch," the Gazette reported.

Liddick and the Knights only won two of their 10 games this season, in September.

Liddick told the Gazette he was ready to retire after the 2009 and 2010 seasons, but his assistant coaches convinced him to stay on.
