Officer Finds More Than 1,000 Grams Of Marijuana In Car: Police

Anne Arundel County police officers conducted a traffic stop in Glen Burnie and found more than 1,000 grams of marijuana in the car.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — Two individuals face drug-related charges in separate cases that unfolded Monday in Glen Burnie. An Anne Arundel County police officer stopped a gray 2008 Nissan Sentra in the area of Oakwood Road and Hospital Drive, and after speaking with the driver and passenger, the officer searched the vehicle.

According to the department, the officer discovered 1,004.45 grams of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia, along with $1,913. Passenger Sariel El’Jaliyl Conway, 22, of Owings Mills, was arrested.

Officers watched a hand-to-hand drug transaction Tuesday at approximately 8 p.m. in the area of the 100 block of Holsum Way. Officers followed the suspects who were in a black Nissan. When approaching the vehicle, the officer smelled marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

After a search, the officers seized the following:

  • 30.84 grams of suspected marijuana
  • 2.76 grams of suspected cocaine
  • 3 oxycodone pills
  • 2 tramadol hydrochloride pills
  • 45 alprazolam pills
  • A clear plastic container containing suspected THC wax, 4.67 grams
  • Digital scale
  • Black Taurus .40 caliber handgun with 8 rounds of ammunition
  • $2,140

Officers arrested and charged 18-year-old Anthony Brian Escalera-Velazquez of Baltimore.
