  • Whiz Kid’s Accomplishment: A sophomore at North County, Luke recently won the 2011 Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Technology for Humans guided by Innovation, Networking and Knowledge (MIT THINK) competition.
  • Whiz Kid’s Key to Awesomeness: Luke won top honors in this year's MIT THINK competition for his project, “Electrochemical Remediation of Acid Mine Drainage." For winning the competition he will visit MIT for a week to sit in on classes and talk with professors, touring the MIT labs and networking with more than 2,200 scientists and research company professionals. Luke also will present his work at the awards ceremony. He said he hopes to use the things he's learned to clean up the Cheat River in Albright, WV.
