Poe is a hit at the Sunset in Glen Burnie
Dinner Show, Poe's Last Stanza, an interactive evening with Edgar Allan Poe sells out three shows at the Sunset. Feb 9 show added.

All kinds of new things are happening at the Sunset. I am a long-time regular there. It’s one of the few places you can get great food and service well past the dinner hour. And, since my job is creating murder and mayhem for the dining entertainment of others, I often find myself in need of a good meal after 10:00pm. Oh, allow me to explain the last remark. I’m the founder of Do or Die Productions, which produces comic, interactive murder mystery dinner shows.
So, after 25+ years writing interactive mystery shows, I wrote a show about Edgar Allan Poe - the father of the modern murder mystery. It debuted in Annapolis, produced by another company in October 2014. I was amazed at the level of engagement on the part of the audience. And I knew I wanted to bring it closer to Baltimore. So it came to pass, in one of those post-show late dinners, that Mike Fratt of the Sunset and I fell to discussing this strange anomaly in my writing career - a play where nobody is murdered. I wanted a video of the show. the Sunset has beautiful dining areas. And so, Poe’s Last Stanza came to Glen Burnie on Poe’s Birthday...and sold out. Another night was added...and sold out. A third night was added...and...have you guessed yet? Yep, it sold out. Unfortunately, our very Poe-appropriate weather January 26 scared a few folks off. They were bitterly disappointed to not see the play. They didn’t want a refund - they wanted Poe. So, we’ve added a new show on February 9.
I’ve been amazed at the positive feedback from our audiences. Who would have thought that Glen Burnie was starved for entertainment? It seems that folks are tired of fighting city traffic, and the lure of a good meal, fun entertainment, and free parking is hard to resist. We’re even thinking about bringing a little murder and mayhem to the Sunset with our mystery shows.
