Police Arrest Men Accused of Stealing Copper Piping

Anne Arundel County police arrested two men early Thursday morning in connection with the theft of copper piping from houses under construction in Glen Burnie.

Dean Zornes Jr., 30, of the unit block of Twin Circle Way in Baltimore and Charles Flood, 23, of the 100 block of Birch Road in Stevensville were charged with theft and trespassing.

According to a police press release, officers responded to the area of Hidden Oak Lane in Glen Burnie at about 1:50 a.m. for a report of a suspicious U-Haul rental van occupied by two men. There are a number of houses under construction in that area.

Officers did not locate the van when they arrived but after a short time the U-Haul returned to the area and an officer stopped it to investigate. Police said they saw a large bundle of copper pipes and a bolt cutter inside the van.

They then inspected some of the houses and found that copper piping had recently been cut and was missing. An investigation is ongoing.
