Police Chase Leads To Crash, Arrest Of Suspected Carjacker
Police arrested a juvenile who crashed a carjacked vehicle during a police chase that was sparked by a second carjacking Thursday.
GLEN BURNIE, MD — A juvenile faces carjacking charges after the stolen vehicle he was driving was chased by police during a different carjacking incident. A second suspect had pulled out a handgun and demanded car keys from a woman who had parked her vehicle in front of a house located in the 100 block of Warwickshire Lane Thursday.
The woman handed over her keys to the 2020 Volkswagen Jetta SE then ran off. Officers were able to locate the vehicle that the suspect was riding in, a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta, before he carjacked the woman's 2020 Jetta. When officers tried to stop the older model Jetta, that driver took off with officers in pursuit until the driver crashed on Sun Street at the intersection with Brady Street. That driver was arrested and officers discovered that the vehicle he was driving also had been carjacked Thursday in Baltimore County.
However, police could not locate the suspect who took off in the 2020 Jetta that was carjacked. Northern District detectives ask that anyone with information call 410-222-6135.
