Police, Fire Incidents: 'Bait Dog' Found, Drug Arrest

Feb. 12
Brooklyn Park: Drug arrest

Anne Arundel County police arrested a Baltimore man Sunday morning after allegedly finding nearly $5,000 worth of marijuana in his truck during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Park.

Michael Anthony Provenza Jr., 31, of the 100 block of Bristol Avenue in Baltimore was charged with possession of drugs with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drugs with intent to distribute within 1,000 yards of school property, according to online court documents.

Feb. 11
Glen Burnie: Assault arrest

Police arrested a Severna Park man after police said he assaulted a friend who attempted to stop him from attacking his wife with a knife.

Tavon Tolson, 28, of the 100 block of Jennings Road in Severna Park was charged with first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

Glen Burnie: Sexual offense arrest

Police arrested a man accused with touching a woman inappropriately in the Lowe's on Ritchie Highway.

Samuel David Garris, 60, of no fixed address was charged with fourth-degree sex offense, second-degree assault, disorderly conduct and two counts of trespassing, according to a police press release.

Feb. 9
Glen Burnie: Burglary arrest

Anne Arundel County police arrested a Brooklyn Park man early Thursday morning and charged him with the burglary of a Glen Burnie pharmacy.

John Henry Hammer Helmick, 22, of the 700 block of Church Street in Brooklyn Park was charged with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary and destruction to property.

Glen Burnie: Robbery

Four teens allegedly robbed a Champs Pizza delivery driver Thursday evening in Glen Burnie, stealing cash and two pizzas, authorities said.

Feb. 7
Linthicum: Burglary arrest

Police arrested a 17-year-old boy Tuesday and charged him with the burglary of a Linthicum home.

Anne Arundel County Animal Control officials are looking for the owners of a severely injured pit bull that officers believe was used as a "bait dog" to train other dogs to fight.
