Police: Man Robs Glen Burnie Walgreen's at Knifepoint

A man threatened the store manager and stole electronics from the pharmacy on Monday, according to police.

Anne Arundel County police arrested a Brooklyn Park man on Monday, after he threatened the manager at a Glen Burnie Walgreen's with a pocket knife and stole electronics from the business, according to a department press release.

Shortly before 4:45 p.m., a man entered the Walgreen's Pharmacy, on the 6700 block of Ritchie Highway, and brought electronics merchandise to the cashier. The suspect left the store momentarily, then re-entered the building and grabbed the electronic, according to police.

The store manager approached the man and tried to recover the electronics, but the suspect displayed an opened pocket knife and raised it toward the manager in a "threatening manner." The manager then moved away, fearing for his safety, police said.

The man entered a silver Ford Mustang, driven by another person, and began to leave the area. A responding officer located a vehicle matching the description and stopped the Mustang.

Police said they found the electronics and a pocket knife upon searching the vehicle.

The manager positively identified the man, and officers arrested the suspect.

Police charged Melvin Lewis Beckett, 40, of Brooklyn Park, with armed robbery, robbery, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, possession of a concealed dangerous weapon and theft.
