Police Report Attempted Robbery in Linthicum Friday

Police said a man assaulted and tried to steal a woman's purse in Linthicum on Friday evening.

A man allegedly assaulted and tried to rob a woman on Friday night in Linthicum, police said.

According to a police press release, officers responded to the area of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and Camp Meade Road in Linthicum at about 7:50 p.m. Friday for a reported assault.

Officers spoke with a witness who said he saw a man assaulting a woman and trying to steal her purse. The witness said he intervened and the suspect fled the scene.

The victim, a 23-year-old woman, told police that she was walking in the area when the man accosted her at the intersection of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and Boulevard Place and demanded money. She said they began to struggle over her purse, but she was able to hold onto it.

She told police the man fled northbound on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard. Officers and a K-9 unit searched the area but were unable to locate the man.

The woman suffered minor injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene, police said.
