Power Outages Close Brooklyn Park Elementary Tuesday

Due to ongoing power outages and downed power lines from Friday night's storm, all school-sponsored activities and programs at Brooklyn Park Elementary School—and and 26 other schools—scheduled for Tuesday are canceled.

"Any changes to the status of schools that currently have power will be noted on the AACPS website and Facebook page by 6:30 a.m. [Tuesday]," according to the release. "In any case, no school-sponsored program at a school currently without power will be held tomorrow."

Employees at schools without power are urged to contact their supervisor for information on their work assignment. All emergency and essential personnel are required to report to their duty locations at their assigned time.

Twelve-month employees who are unable to get to their work location because of travel, child care, or other hardships are encouraged to utilize annual leave and should notify their supervisor of their intent to do so.
