Resurfacing Planned Next Week for Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard
The stretch of road in Glen Burnie has not been resurfaced since 1989.
Next week, state highway crews start a two-week resurfacing project on Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie.
The work on the one-mile stretch from Ritchie Highway to Arundel Expressway begins Sunday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday and continues through Thursday night with the same hours, weather permitting. Crews will mill, resurface and restripe the roadway.
The stretch carries 11,000 vehicles each day and was last resurfaced in 1989, according to state highway officials.
“We understand this work is never convenient for residents and motorists, but it’s necessary," SHA District Engineer Lee Starkloff said in a release. "Repaving improves ride quality and extends road service life. More importantly, it enhances safety by improving roadway drainage, friction and pavement marking visibility.”
The second phase of resurfacing work, from Ritchie Highway to Dorsey Road, will be performed in early September.
