5 Things You Need to Know Today: June 4

We want you to know about the casino, a local student's accomplishment, frozen yogurt and more.

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. Anthony Young of Milford, a senior in the Culinary Arts Program at Blackstone Valley Tech, was recently awarded the Outstanding Vocational Technical Student at a ceremony at Mechanics Hall in Worcester. Young was recognized for his efforts as student ambassador, a role in which he promoted Valley Tech to local middle school students. Young, a member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society, will be attending the Culinary Institute of America.

3. Have you tried Yum Yum FroYo yet? The frozen yogurt shop, which opened lat month in Quarry Square Plaza, just switched to its summer hours this past Saturday. Through the summer, they'll be open until 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

4. The Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra has announced the full lineup for the WMRC Family Night at the Bandstand concerts, which are held Tuesday nights in the summer at Milford Town Park, starting June 25. See the schedule here.

5. Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, will hold office hours from 5 to 6:30 p.m. next Monday, June 10, in Room 4 of Milford Town Hall. The senator will be available to meet with constitutents who need assistance with matters involving state government. No appointment is necessary and residents are met individually on a first-come, first served basis.
