Chase Involving Stolen Boston Water Truck Began On I-495
State police began chasing the stolen water truck in Franklin, and the pursuit ended 55 miles later in Westport.

FRANKLIN, MA — A wild chase involving a stolen city of Boston water truck ended in Westport Friday after state troopers first spotted the vehicle driving along I-495 in Franklin.
The Boston Water and Sewer Commission truck was reported stolen early Friday afternoon, and police were able to use the truck's GPS device to pinpoint its location along I-495 in Franklin. The driver sped southbound when police tried to pull him over there.
The driver hopped on I-95 near Mansfield with state police following. Two Rhode Island troopers joined the chase when the driver crossed the state line. The driver exited onto I-195 near Providence and headed back into Massachusetts toward Seekonk.

East of Fall River, police deployed a spike strip, disabling the truck. The driver got off the freeway and onto Route 88 in Westport, where he eventually surrendered.
Police did not identify the man, and didn't name what charges he is facing. He was taken to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River for an evaluation after his arrest, police said.
