Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra & "Sons of Serendip" March 2

From Hollywood to Milford!

MILFORD, MA – America’s Got Talent finalist, Sons of Serendip, will join The Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra (CHSO) for “Symphonic Serendipity” on Saturday, March 2nd. The classical crossover ensemble includes CHSO principal harpist Mason Morton. Sons of Serendip also performed on the Esplanade with the Boston Pops for its annual Independence Day Spectacular. Musicians Kendall Ramseur (cellist), Cordaro Rodriguez (pianist), Mason Morton (harpist), and Micah Christian (lead vocalist) round out this gifted quartet.
The March 2 concert begins at 7:30 at the Milford (MA) Town Hall Grand Ballroom. Featured performances include “The Red Pony Suite” by Aaron Copeland; Vaugh-Williams’ “Variations on a Theme by Thomas Tallis,” music from film favorites and a few more surprises.
The “Sons of Serendip” quartet met in graduate school, while completing degrees in Cello Performance (Ramseur), Law (Rodriguez), Harp Performance (Morton), and Theology (Christian). The group formed in 2014, a year after finishing their graduate education, specifically for the reality competition, America's Got Talent (season 9). They finished in fourth place AND they appeared again this past February 4th!
“I had the pleasure of being the principal harpist with the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra since 2013,” said Mason Morton. “Since first meeting Paul and playing the first few notes with the orchestra, it instantly felt like both family and home.”
Sons of Serendip is in the middle of a very busy, national tour. Their appearance with Claflin Hill is their only appearance in New England and a rare performance with full orchestra.
“In 2016, Claflin featured the harp in a performance of Ravel's, ‘Introduction et Allegro.’ It felt like a family reunion for me when Sons of Serendip attended that performance! I don't exactly recall the particulars, but I believe Paul and Micah both decided that evening that CHSO and SOS should perform together because Sons of Serendip use a lot of orchestral arrangements in our works. After months of careful planning and practice, this leads us to Sons of Serendip’s collaboration with Clafin Hill Symphony Orchestra on March 2!”
“We’ve enjoyed a great creative collaboration,” said Maestro Surapine. “We are fortunate to be working with such a creative group of musicians. It makes for great music, and fulfills our mission to bring new artistic experiences to our audiences.”

Surapine is the founder and Executive & Artistic Director of The Claflin Hill Music Performance Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to creating cultural events in the Worcester-Metrowest-Boston region Its preeminent series include The Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra, The Homefield Credit Union Jazz Series—both in Milford, the Claflin Hill Apple Tree Arts Chamber Music Series in Grafton, numerous summer park concerts throughout the region, and The Claflin Hill Youth Symphonies, which provide advanced orchestral training for young musicians ages 8 – 18.
