Dirty Meat Cleavers, Eggs On Floor: Milford Health Inspections
Milford's health department conducted multiple inspections from April.

MILFORD, MA—The following inspections were supplied by the Milford Board of Health:
- Garden Pizza 92 Prospect St. 4-9-18 Install missing or buried thermometers in the cooler and freezer so that they are visible and start a temp. log for both units, box of food product cannot be stored on the floor in the walk in cooler and clean the fan guard and cooling unit in this same cooler dust dirt buildup, and defrost the small chest freezer.
- Isabel’s 335.5 Main St. 4-9-18 Repair 2 seals for the two door cooler, products (meat) in this cooler being held at a safe temp., need more effective cleaning and sanitizing of the foo slicer, and clean out the 2 door beer cooler remove everything and clean the bottom.
- Friendly’s 17 Medway Rd 4-6-18 One violation found here. One food product not covered in the True 2 door freezer.
- Honey Dew 118 Prospect St. 4-5-18 No violations here.
- Dunkin Donuts 13 Medway Rd. 3-29-18 Floor in the walk in cooler needs to be swept out, store plastic knives so that all handles face the user, and toilet bowls for both restrooms need to be cleaned and disinfected.
- Dunkin Donuts 31 Medway Road 3-29-18 Need hotter hot water at two hand sinks. Re-inspection scheduled. Hot water restored the next day.
- Great Taste 201 E. Main St 4-5-18 Violations here include the following. Back dry goods storage room could be cleaner and neater have seen it better, two trays of food not covered in the 2 door Isotemp freezer, cover foods more securely in the “new” 3 door glass cooler this is a relatively new cooler and needs to be cleaned, (food products in this same unit holding safe cold temp), meat cleavers are to be cleaned and sanitized before storage on the clean magnetic strip, manual can opener needs to be cleaned and sanitized, clean surface area’s of the wok stations, and clean the interior of the microwave on top of the freezer. A re-inspection is scheduled.
- Hunan Gourmet 130 Main St. 4-4-18 Violations here include the following. Label grey barrels in the basement with the food products they contain, food products in the walk in cooler need to be covered, clean scrub the small two burner stove top, clean interior of the microwave oven, shrimp not covered in the 2 door prep cooler, and cover foods in the new 2 door coke cooler.
- Honey Dew Donuts 140 S. Main St. 4-4-18 Do not store the ice scoop in the ice bin at the drive up window to avoid possible bare hand contact with food product (ice), food products in cardboard boxes cannot be stored on the floor in the walk in cooler.
- Genesis Health Care 10 Veterans Mem. Dr. 3-29-18 No violations here.
- Golden House 93 Water St. 4-3-18 Clean surface area of the wok station, and the screen above the backdoor is a mess clean it.
- Criterion Child Enrichment 375 Fortune Blvd. 4-3-18 There are no violations here.
- Dunkin Donuts 350 E. Main St. 4-30-18 Violations include the following. Label the large white “Brute” barrel with food product it contains.
- K.F.C. 15 Medway Rd. 4-10-18 Violations here include the following. Need a more secure way to cover food products in the walk in freezer light brown paper used now is too light, need to clean the convection oven on the main line side, also need to clean the fixtures in the men’s restroom (toilet, urinal, sink).
- Johnny Jacks 220 Main St. 4-10-18 Bag of sugar in the basement needs to be closed tightly and stored off the ground, in the walk in cooler store the eggs off the floor, clean the 6 burner stove at the main line, and untie the doors to the storage area under the flat top and clean the handles and hinges.
- Garden Restaurant 156 Wet St. 3-30-18 Bag of potatoes cannot be stored on the floor and store plastic utensils so that all handles face the user.
- Dunkin' Donuts 146 S. Main St. 4-30-18 Label large white “Brute” barrel with the food product it contains.
- J.R.’s Diner 4-11-18 296 Main St. There were two violations here. Bags of potatoes are to be stored off the floor, and in the walk in freezer any food in cardboard boxes are to be stored off the floor.
- Fairfield Inn & Suites 1 Fortune Blvd. 4-11-18 Three violations here. Need to cover the melon in the 2 door cooler (internal temp of this melon a safe holding temp of 38 degrees), box of bananas cannot be stored on the kitchen floor, and need paper towel for the hand-sink.
- New Lin’s Garden 206 E. Main 4-10-18 Violations here include the following. The small back prep area is to be cleaned and sanitized and the complete area to shine, this includes the work station floors wall, mop sink everything, clean and disinfect the hand-sink in the employees restroom, at the three bay sink area move everything movable and clean the floor in this area, meat cleavers are to be cleaned and sanitized before storage on the magnetic knife strip, the mop sink is not be used as an all purpose drain for anything. And a critical violation involved the prep cooler not maintaining cold enough holding temps. As time/temp was not abused all potentially hazardous was moved to the walk in cooler for safe keeping. A re-inspection was conducted the next day and foods tested that were not potentially hazardous held safe temps. Foods were allowed back into the prep cooler and it was determined that simply keeping stainless steel lids closed all the time this held in cold temps. Critical violation corrected. Remaining violations to be corrected within one week. Also reviewed with the owner that as noted in the pest control report that increased cleaning is to happen here.
