Donald Moore, Milford Resident and Retired Hopedale Fire Chief, Dies at 75

Moore was born in Milford and moved to Hopedale.

MILFORD, MA—Retired Hopedale Fire Chief Donald A. Moore, 75, of Milford passed away Mon. July 18, 2016 after a long period of declining health at the Milford Regional Medical Center, Milford with his family by his side.

He was the husband of Norma L. (Parent) Moore. Chief Moore was born in Milford, January 21, 1941 the son of the late Thomas J. and Helen E. (Andrew) Moore. He was a graduate of Hopedale High School, Class of 1959 and Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester with an Associate Degree in Fire Science.

Donald had been a resident of Framingham and Cape Cod before moving to Milford 13 years ago. Chief Moore began his work life at the former Draper Corporation in Hopedale and joined the Hopedale Fire Department as a call firefighter. After becoming a permanent firefighter, he became president of Local 2225 Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts. He later rose to the position of Chief which he held for five years prior to his retirement in 1985.Chief Moore was an avid NASCAR fan, a member of the NRA and enjoyed time spent on Cape Cod.Mr. & Mrs. Moore observed their 32nd wedding anniversary on Dec. 31, 2015. In addition to his wife Norma, he is survived by his daughter Michelle K. wife of Greg Sutton of Milford; his brother, former Senator Richard T. Moore and his wife, Joanne, of Uxbridge; his uncle, James Moore of Milford; his stepchildren Alice LaBelle of Grafton; Vicky Farenbruck of South Carolina; and Robin Warwick of Mississippi and his former wife, Carole (Cresey) Moore of Hopedale.
