Fino is OPEN!

I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day then today! While I wasn't first in line, they were gracious enough to let me be first in the gate! It wasn't the same as last year, this year it means so much more! Amongst speculation that Fino was in need of repairs and possibly closing, our community said otherwise! Save Fino committee, petition and facebook group was created! Just like that, we had a cause. Yes, Fino IS in need of repairs and has been for a while. While other issues took precedence, now, it's Finos turn! While we await the feasibility study to be done, to know the full extent of damage and repairs, we are resolved to keep the town informed and the Parks Commission and Fino pool and grounds on track. The pool IS open this summer, today being opening day, and for the summers to come, until it has been decided whether to repair Fino or get rid of it! I spent a lovely couple of hours talking with MR. Santacroce and some of his life guards! While I am working on a bigger story, more personal story about Fino pool, I thought the public shouldn't have to wait for a few details!

Fino is open 7 days a week, 12pm until 6pm, weather permitting. Fees have gone up a bit, but do remain $1 for children who reside in Milford. Floats and other pool/beach toys are allowed, as is food and drinks! Grills, alcohol and smoking are not allowed on Fino grounds. Bathing suits are required and while the life guards are there to watch and protect, they are not babysitters and young children need to be supervised!

Our Milford Youth Center uses the pool 3 times a week, as do other organizations. Today will be the first time our community use program has Yoga class on Fino grounds! Many use Fino yet so many more don't know it exists! It's not just a pool! It is fenced in, plenty of shade. Picnic tables are available and even the Ice cream truck shows up for the 15 minute adult swim while the kids are playing! There is so much more to do there then just swim! You can fish over the bridge, bird watch, plenty of wildlife! Play any type of outdoor games on one of the fields! Pack a lunch, pack up the family and come on down! Fino also allows birthday Parties and events!

Swimming lesson registration is this Saturday from 9 to noon.

The Save Fino Comm is working on providing individual and family passes for families in need. If anyone would like to purchase a pass to donate, or would like more info on swimming lessons, parties etc, you can do so at Fino Pool.
