Head Baseball Coach Steps Down From Milford Team, Assistant Steps Up

The longtime assistant coach will be stepping in to lead Milford High's baseball team.

MILFORD, MA—He's not going anywhere, and still says he'll remain very active with the Milford High School Booster Club, as well as youth baseball and softball. But Paul Pellgrini has decided to step down as the head baseball coach at Milford High School.

"He has thought long and hard about this decision," said Athletic Director Peter Boucher in a statement, and with his young (growing) children entering their elementary and upper elementary years he wants to focus on coaching them as the get older. He is a great Milford alumni, coach, and citizen and we are very, very thankful for his years of service to Milford HS Baseball and MHS Athletics.

Pellgrini's longtime varsity assistant coach and MHS teacher Alex Dion was chosen to step in as the new head coach for Milford baseball. Dion has years of coaching and playing baseball at many high levels.

"He is very motivated and excited to be the next Head baseball Coach in Milford's long history of great coaches and players," said Boucher in a statement. "I should add that both Coach Pellegrini and I are 100 percent in support of Coach Dion and his opportunity to be the next Milford High School Head Baseball Coach. Alex has worked tirelessly in the classroom and for Milford Football, Unified Sports, and Baseball during his time here at Milford High School. I have found his knowledge of Baseball to be exceptional and his drive to be successful unquestionable. He loves teaching and coaching baseball at MHS so we are in very good hands with Coach Dion moving forward."
