Mendon Twin Protest Planned After Owner's Social Media Posts
Mendon Twin co-owner and Phantom Gourmet host Dave Andelman wrote Facebook posts disparaging recent protests over policing and racism.

MENDON, MA — A demonstration is planned Saturday outside the Mendon Twin drive-in theater following comments made by one of the owners about recent protests related to the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
Screenshots of Facebook posts made by Phantom Gourmet host and Mendon Twin co-owner Dave Andelman began circulating over the weekend.
"If the people who fought to create and defend this country knew politicians and police were 'taking a knee' after looting in major cities, while millions of law abiding citizens were denied the right to make a living, they'd jam bayonets into their own heads," one post read, according to a screenshot.

The comments led WBZ and WSBK to put the 27-year-old Phantom Gourmet restaurant review show on hiatus. Andelman issued an apology for his comments via the Phantom Gourmet Facebook page Saturday.

The Mendon Twin protest organizers said they are rallying outside the drive-in so moviegoers know about Andelman's posts.
"We will make sure the public has enough information to make informed decisions about where they choose to spend their money," the organizers said on the Facebook event page. "We will continue the fight for equality and justice throughout New England because we know that Black lives matter."
The "Take a Stand Together Rally" is set to begin Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in the lot across the street from the Mendon Twin.
