MILFORD, MA — The 2021 Milford election season kicked off this week with a campaign announcement for the Board of Selectmen race, one of more than a dozen seats on the ballot in the April election.

Board of Health member and former town health agent Paul Mazzuchelli said Tuesday he will run for the seat on the Board of Selectmen held by William Kingkade, who is not seeking reelection in 2021. Mazzuchelli, 65, has held a variety of positions on local boards and committees, including the Milford School Committee, the Milford Housing Authority and the Milford Retirement Board.

"Our town faces many important challenges during these unprecedented times and my years of service prepares me well to help solve them," he said in a Tuesday news release.

He listed accomplishments like his hand in the construction of the Milford Transfer Facility, the development of a former landfill into Plains Park and establishing a curbside recycling program. Mazzuchelli has also served on the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project during recent Eastern equine encephalitis outbreaks.

"I am fully invested in Milford’s success and prosperity and I have learned throughout the years that a good member of any board or committee should constantly strive to improve the effectiveness that a board has on the community," he said. "This not only demonstrates good public service, but also good public leadership."
