The parade was started just last year to honor Independence Day. Featuring floats and classic cars, the parade is open to everyone, even including a bicycle brigade full of children and decked out red, white and blue bikes. The parade honors one citizen, dubbed "Milfordian of the Year" who stands out as selflessly contributing to make Milford a better place. This year the parade will honor Milford Police Chief Thomas O'Loughlin.
The town will also start the celebrations a day early with fireworks at 10 p.m. on July 3rd at Plains Park. The rain date for the fireworks show is July 5th.
