Milford Police: Lightning Strike Causes Circuit Damage in Resident's Garage

Wednesday, Oct. 22
At 8 a.m., Milford police received a report that a driver took a cable line down on Rovers Avenue. Comcast was notified.
At 11:26 a.m., a caller reported that a female took his bag containing an ID, credit cards and car keys in the West Walnut Street area. The property was subsequently returned, according to police records.

At 3:33 p.m., a caller reported a two-car accident in the area of Kmart on Medway Road with no personal injury, though one individual complained of neck and back pain.
At 5:36 p.m., Milford detectives attempted to execute an arrest warrant on Senate Road. Officers subsequently arrested Julie Scroth, 37, of Milford on the warrant.

At 5:45 p.m., a caller reported a noise complaint on Taylor Road.
At 6:40 p.m., a caller reported her 88-year-old mother left at 1 p.m. to go shopping and had not yet returned home; she had reportedly been driving a 2000 Toyota Camry with Maryland plates. Officers located a vehicle that had been driving all over the road on Rte. 140 towards Hopedale; the caller subsequently reported that her mother had returned home.
At 8:05 p.m., a woman entered the Milford Police Department to turn in a camera that she located in the woods behind Big Lots. The item was placed in the Lost and Found.
At 8:12 p.m., a woman reported that a violin had been stolen from her home on Grant Street and she believed it had been one of her sons. The individuals involved declined to press charges.
At 8:14 p.m., police arrested Nilsa Enid Vega, 39, of Milford, on a warrant.
At 9:56 p.m., a caller reported smoke in his garage on Quinchapaug Road, though no fire had been showing at the time of the call. The Milford Fire Department responded and found that multiple circuits had been affected by a lightning strike, as well as an outdoor vent.
At 11:15 p.m., a caller reported a small red sedan crossed the yellow lines near Target on Fortune Boulevard. Officers responded but found nothing upon arrival.
