Deadline For Milford Picnic Table Project Approaching
Milford is seeking artists of all types to decorate picnic tables for use in public spaces around town.
MILFORD, MA — The Milford Cultural Council, Parks Department and Highway Department are teaming up on a new public art project that will actually be quite a picnic.
The town has purchased 10 picnic tables, and is seeking local artists to decorate them. The tables will then be installed at various sites around town — from the Garden of Hope at Fino Field to Plains Park.
The "Brush to Table" (B2T) project comes from the Cultural Council's Public Art Subcommittee, which formed over the summer to bring art to public spaces around Milford.

"B2T welcomes participation by local artists and art students to submit designs and paint the tables, as well as by local businesses and groups to sponsor each table," the Cultural Council said in a news release this week. "Artists and sponsors will be recognized on a metal plaque that will be installed on each table upon completion. Each artist is welcome to submit more than one design proposal. Applications will be reviewed by the MCCPAS based on feasibility, originality, innovation and adherence to design criteria."
Through the sponsorships, artists selected for the B2T project will get stipends ranging from $250 to $500 for supplies and labor. Artists are welcome to begin submitting proposals now, and will be notified by April 26. Once complete, all 10 tables will be on display in Plains Park in mid-July before being moved to permanent spots around town.
