Milford Schools Join 'Start With Hello' Week

MILFORD, MA—The Milford Public Schools, in partnership with Sandy Hook Promise, a national, nonprofit organization led by several family members whose loved ones were killed in the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, will be participating in Start With Hello Week during the week of September 24-28.

Start With Hello’s mission is to teach students the skills they need to reach out and include those who may be dealing with chronic social isolation and helps create a culture of inclusion and connectedness within their school or youth organization.

“This is a great way for students to learn about the importance of inclusion, as well as to see how important it is to help students they see who are isolated and alone,” said SEL Director Lisa Kingkade said in a statement. “Helping our younger students recognize the importance of friendships and inclusion of all, is getting back to the foundation upon which we build a connected community and skills needed for the future. Our hope is that these simple acts of kindness are carried on throughout their school years and into their daily lives.”
