Milford Water's New Treatment Plant Up and Running

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has given the Milford Water Company approval to run the plant.

A new, state-of-the-art facility that purifies surface water is up and running at the Milford Water Company on Dilla Street, the water company announced Tuesday.

“This new and efficient plant is an important investment that will provide the people and businesses of Milford with high quality service for many years to come,” Milford Water Co. President David White said in a press release. “We thank all those who have made this project run smoothly, on schedule, and within budget.”

Construction is still continuing on site and is expected to run through August.

Construction of the new facility began in March 2012, and the company received the MassDEP's verbal activation approval on May 30.

“Since that approval, we have been fine tuning the operation of the facility and have been happy with the smooth transition to the new plant, which is now running at 100 percent of current flow," Condrey said.

“We appreciate the public’s patience and support through these important investments. Public confidence in the water supply is our top priority and we will continue to strive to earn your trust,” said Condrey.
