Milford's Memorial Day Parade, Plans For 2018

Where do you sit to watch the parade? Here are the details for Milford.

MILFORD, MA—As always, the Milford Memorial Day parade takes place on Memorial Day, which is Monday, May 28, this year.

According to Veteran's Agent John Pilla, this is what's in store this year.

The assembly of divisions will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot adjacent to the ’99 Restaurant on Route 16. Step-off is at 10 a.m.

The parade marches up East Main Street to Calzone Park where a brief ceremony takes place. It then continues up Main Street to Draper Memorial Park where a ceremony, along with speakers, takes place.

Master of Ceremonies is Gail (Arcudi) Reichert, a Navy veteran. Fr. Mateus Souza, police chaplain, also gives the Invocation followed by Rohan Johnson, who reads Logan’s Address.

If the parade is cancelled because of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the Italian Veterans Post on Hayward Field at 10 a.m.

Invited to participate in the parade are the various veterans' service organizations along with Milford town officials, police honor guard, fire honor guard and state legislators. Music is provided by the Milford High School band as well as Milford Middle School band. Comprising the majority of the parade participants will be the scouts along with their leaders and parents.

This year’s Grand Marshal is Jason Mack. Mack is a Marine Corp veteran who lives in Milford with his wife Xiomara and children Jayden and Jasmine. During his military career, he completed tours of duty with the 1st Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team as well as service in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Naples and Iraq. Mr. Mack is the recipient of many awards and decorations some of which are the Combat Action Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Citation and the Iraq Campaign Medal. Mack currently works for the Department of Defense.

Mack is also responsible for collecting donations in order that American flags be mounted on telephone poles along the parade route.
