Police Log: Garage Fire on Poplar Street, Small Boy Throwing Snowballs at Cars

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. When arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, Jan. 23

4:27 p.m.: A caller on Congress Street, at Spruce Street, reported a young boy in a red snow suit was throwing snowballs at passing cars. An officer came out to talk to him.

4:39 p.m.: An officer near Milford Regional Medical Center was waved down by an elderly woman who needed help with a frozen door.

5:41 p.m.: Officers responded to an apartment where a woman had texted her mother with suicidal statements. The woman was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

5:48 p.m.: A caller on Parkhurst Street said a man had come up to her door and said he was asked by the Milford Police to sell home alarm systems, due to all the recent break-ins. Officers responded and told the Nashua, NH-based salesman that he needed to register with the police before soliciting.

5:49 p.m.: Firefighters responded to Poplar Street, where a detached garage had a wall on fire. The fire was extinguished.

6:33 p.m.: A caller told police a relative was destroying the house. Police responded and arrested Ismael Burgos Jr., 44, of 35 Luby Ave., Milford, on a charge of domestic assault and battery.

Friday, Jan. 24

12:53 a.m.: A caller on East Main Street said she could hear footsteps in a vacant unit on the third floor. Police checked and secured the building.

2:57 a.m.: A disturbance was reported on Pheasant Circle. A woman said people outside were throwing things at the building. She couldn't see anyone, but could hear them. Police responded but the people were gone.

9:08 a.m.: A caller said she had received a phone call that might be a scam about health insurance. She was advised to give no information and to ignore any future calls.

2:16 p.m.: Firefighters responded to Milford National Bank and Trust on South Main Street for a general alarm. A caller reported someone had burned something in a toaster.
