Robert Curran, Navy Vet, Gun Club Member, Dies at 80

Services are this weekend for the longtime Milford resident.

MILFORD, MA — Robert Edward Curran, 80, of Milford died on February 29 at the Knollwood Nursing Center in West Boylston. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Hoyt) Curran who died in 1988.

He was born in Walpole; son of the late Peter and Mildred (Minichelli) Curran. He was raised & educated there and was a graduate of Walpole High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean war.

Mr. Curran was a dedicated driver for U.P.S. for 35 years before retiring in 1990. He was an avid sports fan particularly the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Maspenock Rod & Gun Club in Milford. He had been a Milford resident since 1967.

Mr. Curran is survived by his two sisters Donna Stanton of Walpole and "Dixie" Forte of California, his daughter Roberta and her husband Michael Nestor of West Haven,Ct, his son Steven and his wife Maggie Curran of Norwalk, Ct, his stepson Russell "Matty" Mattson Jr. and his wife Fawn, seven grandchildren Megan, Kate, Claire, Steve, Emily,Claire and Dana and his beloved "Tina Lulu", he recently celebrated the birth of Harper, his first great grandchild. He was predeceased by two other stepsons Guy and Steven Mattson.

The funeral will be held on Friday, March 11 at 2:00 pm in the Watson Colonial Funeral Home, 24 Congress St. Milford. Burial will follow in Vernon Grove Cemetery.
