Troopers Find RI Man With Illegal Gun After Route 146 Stop

The 23-year-old was arrested Sunday afternoon after getting pulled over near Uxbridge.

UXBRIDGE, MA — State police arrested and charged a 23-year-old Rhode Island man for illegally carrying a large-caliber revolver over the weekend.

A trooper pulled over Jacob Tekut, 23, of Woonsocket, along Route 146 just before 5 p.m. on Sunday after discovering that Tekut's vehicle registration was expired. The trooper followed Tekut off the highway to Chocolog Road, where he pulled over.

When a tow truck came to get the car, the trooper searched the vehicle and found a .357 revolver, police reported.

Tekut was charged with illegal possession of a gun, carrying a loaded gun, improper storage of a gun, possession of a gun after violent crime convictions and operating an unregistered vehicle. He was later released on a $20,000 bond, according to police.
