WORCESTER COUNTY, MA — With the help of county residents and organizations, the Worcester County Sheriff's Office was able to collect more than 3,500 coats this year as part of its annual Sheriff's Winter Coat Drive.

Worcester County Sheriff Lew Evangelidis and other officials recently distributed to the new and gently-used coats to local organizations including St. John's Food for the Poor Program, Abby's House & St. Anne's Human Services.

"Worcester County is such a special place to have so many caring, compassionate and giving organizations," Evangelidis said in a Facebook post. "A heartfelt thank you to all of our community sponsors and to all who generously gave — your donation truly made a difference."
