$2.2K To India COVID-19 Relief Donated By Holmdel Nonprofit
The Chinese Association of Holmdel delivered a $2.2K check to the Indian Association of Holmdel for relief efforts this week.

HOLMDEL, NJ - Two Holmdel cultural organizations showed their support for each other outside Town Hall this week as the Chinese Association of Holmdel met with the Indian Association of Holmdel to deliver a $2,210 donation to India COVID-19 relief efforts.
As increased vaccination efforts and diminishing hospitalization rates allow many New Jerseyans to return to life as usual in recent weeks, the same can’t be said for individuals around the world. In India, the country recently surpassed 300,000 COVID-19 related deaths and faces stark vaccine shortages and a lack of available hospital resources.
In response, the Holmdel Indian Association (HIA) has launched a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $200,000 to be used towards emergency medical supplies including medical-grade oxygen. The group has already sourced 200 10-liter oxygen concentrators to be funded by the campaign.

The two Holmdel groups have raised $6,000 of their goal so far.
According to the organization, more than 4,500 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in India in just a 24-hour period as over 260,000 new cases were registered - but experts think these figures are an underestimation, particularly in rural areas as they are currently experiencing a surge in cases.

"As life slowly rolls back to normal here at home, it is heart-breaking to see India battle the world's biggest COVID-19 wave," the nonprofit wrote in a statement to Patch. "The Holmdel Indian Association (HIA) with support from Alliance of Chinese Americans at Holmdel has launched a fundraising drive to support people in India through these challenging times."
HIA is currently working with interventional cardiologist Dr. Rajesh Mohan of Lakewood and Clever Health, Inc. CEO Charik Sethi, as well as local charities Serve Humanity Foundation (SHF) and Global Impact Foundation, to ensure that resources donated from Holmdel make a positive and effective impact.
