Allocco Park Playground Improvements On Holmdel Committee Agenda

HOLMDEL, NJ - The five-member Holmdel Township Committee is set to discuss the purchase of new playground equipment at Allocco Park, a contract awarding the purchase of fire equipment and the introduction of an ordinance to establish the rules and regulations for off-leash dogs at Bayonet Farm at its next meeting on March 23, according to municipal documents.

Here are the highlights on the agenda:

• A resolution for the purchase of playground equipment and supplies for Allocco Park through funding from Monmouth County’s Municipal Open Space Grant Program. Holmdel aims to create an “inclusive playground” from the grant. The township applied for and received an additional $35,000 in grant money for playground equipment/turf through RubbeRecycle. The new playground is set to feature synthetic turf, an arch swing, an ADA-complaint Inclusive Whirl and tree swings. Read more here.
• A resolution for the authorization renewing concrete curb and sidewalk replacement contract in an amount not to exceed $187,000.48.
• A resolution awarding a contract to First Battalion Firefighting Equipment and Continental Fire & Safety for fire truck equipment not to exceed $110,000 collectively.
• A resolution demanding that the New Jersey Legislature accept responsibility for affordable housing. “TheTownship Committee of the Township of Holmdel in the County of Monmouth, State of New Jersey, that it does hereby demand that the Governor and the Legislature cease their unconscionable disregard of this most important provision of the State constitution and take immediate and decisive action to restore a viable administrative remedy that municipalities can use in satisfaction of their constitutional obligations to provide affordable housing,” the resolution reads.

The committee is also slated to introduce several ordinances, including an ordinance to establish rules and regulations for the off-leash dog area at Bayonet Farm and an ordinance regulating animal control of fowl.
