Days After Isaias, Thousands Still Out Of Power In Red Bank

As of 12:30 p.m. on Friday, more than 2,100 Red Bank residents (over 25 percent of area customers) are still left in the dark, per JCP&L.

RED BANK, NJ – Tropical Storm Isaias, which rattled the state with heavy rain, 100 mph gusts of wind and isolated tornadoes on Tuesday, continues to leave thousands of Monmouth County residents without power. As of 12:30 p.m. on Friday, more than 2,100 Red Bank residents (over 25 percent of area customers) are still left in the dark, according to JCP&L.

“Red Bank experienced a series of power disruptions during the storm and approximately 60% of Jersey Central Power & Light customers in Red Bank were left without power after the storm,” reads a statement on the borough's municipal website. “Electricity is provided by JCP&L and the Borough does not have oversight or jurisdiction of the utility companies."

The Red Bank Public Library, which still remains shuttered for cleaning, now offers outdoor power stations to charge devices.

According to the Borough of Red Bank municipal website, a global estimated restoration time of Aug.11 at 11:30 p.m. is in effect for most customers. More detailed restoration estimates can be found here.

“While the Borough does not serve the electricity, officials advocate for the community and we are exhausting all options for speedy restoration,” the statement reads.

Cleanup crews are currently canvassing the area for storm-related debris. It was not immediately clear on Friday when cleanup efforts are expected to complete.

The borough urges residents to continue reporting outages to JCP&L (1-888-LIGHTSS).
