Freehold Regional ‘Considering’ Full-Time Classes By February

Are you looking to send your teen back to full-time classes? The Freehold Regional High School District wants to know by Jan. 22.

HOWELL, NJ - The Freehold Regional High School District may be seeking to reopen schools for full-time, in-person instruction by February - that is, if enough parents vote ‘yes’ and public health data supports the transition. According to a new survey released by the school district, a February return is on the table, contingent on the district’s ability to abide by state social distancing guidelines.

“The FRHSD is considering offering students the option to attend school for in-person learning, 5 days a week at the start of the Marking Period 3 on Thursday, February 4, 2021,” the district wrote. “Full implementation of this option will depend on our ability to abide by social distancing requirements.”

Parents can complete and submit a questionnaire for each child enrolled in the regional school district by logging into Genesis no later than Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. The choices are as follows:

“Families are asked to select a learning option preference for Marking Period 3. After reviewing the results of this questionnaire, the District will determine if we can provide In-person Learning for 5 days a week to families while maintaining a safe school environment,” the district said.

Those who commit to 5 days per week, in-person Learning will be able to transition to the hybrid or full-remote schedule by providing written notice to the principal within five business days at any point during the third marking period, according to the district. Families that do not opt for the five-day schedule will not be able to transition to the model later in the marking period.

“This questionnaire is NOT a commitment. A subsequent communication will go out to parents during the week of January 25 to inform the community of the feasibility of providing five days a week, in person learning to the school community,” the district added. “If you have specific questions, please contact an administrator at your student's school.”
