Hazlet Boys Throw First Pitch At Last Mets Game Of Season
Chris Moreno, 14, and his younger brother Danny Moreno, 13, were stopped by a Mets team employee as they walked into CitiField Sunday.

HAZLET, NJ — You can imagine the shock and delight of two Hazlet brothers when they were randomly chosen to throw the first pitch at the last Mets game of the season on Sunday, Sept. 30.
Chris Moreno, 14, and his younger brother Danny Moreno, 13, were stopped by a Mets team employee as they walked into the CitiField rotunda Sunday afternoon, their father, Carlos Moreno, told Patch. Mom Jodie Moreno was with them, too.
"It was pure dumb luck," laughed their dad. "They just said since it was the last game of the season, they were doing fan appreciation and would the boys want to throw the first pitch? They were really nervous, but said yes."

Danny, who plays baseball in the local travel team Cage Academy, decided to throw the pitch. His older brother was the catcher. Danny was really nervous about bouncing it "and having the whole stadium boo," but he threw a perfect pitch, expertly caught by his big brother, their father said.
The players were all warming up, so the boys didn't really get to meet anyone during the first pitch. They did get some autographs after the game, however.

Moreno takes his sons to about five to ten Mets games a year and they always try to attend the last game of every season because there are a lot of giveaways and special fan events.
The family lives in Hazlet. Danny goes to Hazlet Middle School and Chris is a freshman at Raritan High School. Good job, young men and ... LET'S GO METS!
