Hazlet Police Urge Motorists To Avoid Bethany Road Rail Crossing

A possible train malfunction forcing it to remain on the tracks in Hazlet is creating commuter problems on the rails and roads, police say.

HAZLET, NJ - Authorities are asking travelers to avoid train crossings at Bethany Road and Hazlet Avenue where emergency traffic and other issues are causing heavy delays.

According to a notice on the Facebook page for Monmouth County Police, Fire and EMS, a 10:57 a.m. train was forced to remain at the station in Hazlet where transit authorities were reviewing it for some sort of issue or potential problem and that in turn created backups and delays which still are being felt.
