Here Are The Candidates For Howell’s November Election

HOWELL, NJ – Two newcomers will be challenging seats currently occupied by Howell's mayor and deputy mayor come November.

Mayor Theresa Berger will be seeking a second four-year term on Nov. 3, challenged by Republican Suzanne M. Brennan. Berger won the Democratic mayoral primary with 3,612 votes in the July 7 election, with Brennan garnering 3,432 votes from the Republican race.

Brennan is an attorney and has previously served on the Howell K-8 School District Board of Education.

As Mayor, Berger also currently serves on the five-person township council. Berger runs council meetings.

Republican deputy mayor Evelyn O’Donnell will also be seeking reelection. O’Donnell currently serves on the Howell Township Council and will be seeking another four-year term come November.

O’Donnell joined the Howell Township Council in 2017. She will be challenged by Democrat Andre de Garmeaux.

In the primary election, O’Donnell secured the nomination with 3,417 votes. De Garmeaux received 3,534 votes in the Democratic primary.

De Garmeaux operates his family business, Highland Kennel, which has served the Howell community for over 40 years. He also has a professional background in computer science.

The Democrat is a member of the Howell Shade Tree Commission and has been heavily involved in an effort to stop a mulch depot on Randolph Road from a proposed conversion into a solid waste transfer station.
