[UPDATED] Route 36 Closed Due To Downed Wires: Cops

HAZLET, NJ - A portion of Route 36 in Hazlet is closed as of Tuesday mid-morning due to downed wires, police said.

The Hazlet Township Police Department alerted residents at approximately 10:58 a.m. that the main road will be shut to vehicular traffic between Seagate and Union Avenues due to utility wires across the roadway.

“Please avoid the area and find an alternate route, such as Middle Road or State Highway 35. The proper authorities have been notified to fix the issue,” the department said.

Authorities announced the reopening of the main road at around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

"Highway 36 is now opened in both directions," police said.
