Holmdel Boys Soccer Coach Resigns Days Before First Game
Holmdel's varsity boys head soccer coach Ron Poll abruptly resigned last week. His leave was approved at a September BOE meeting.
HOLMDEL, NJ - Holmdel’s varsity boys head soccer coach Ron Poll abruptly resigned from his position just days before the team's first game of the season, district officials confirmed last week.
According to Holmdel Township Schools Board of Education documents, the former head coach was approved to resign at a Sept. 28 board meeting.
Holmdel interim superintendent Dr. Leroy Seitz confirmed the resignation in an email to Patch but declined to comment further on the terms of resignation. “We do not comment on personnel items,” Seitz wrote.

Poll assumed head coach duties after former head coach John Nacarlo stepped down in 2018 (Nacarlo now coaches the Holmdel girls soccer team). Assistant coach Matt Isaacson will take over the program starting Monday with the team facing Monmouth Regional.
Poll led Holmdel to a 16-0-2 record and extended the program’s undefeated 54-game streak dating back to 2017, the Asbury Park Press reports.

“I’d like to thank coach Poll for his dedication over the last two years to the district and the program,” Holmdel athletic director Matt Kukoda told the Press.
