Holmdel Group Launches Fundraiser For India COVID Relief
The Holmdel Indian Association (HIA) has launched a fundraising drive to support India as the nation battles the COVID-19 pandemic.
HOLMDEL, NJ - A grassroots effort in Holmdel is seeking to provide aid to India as the country surpasses 300,000 COVID-19 related deaths and faces stark vaccine shortages and a lack of available hospital resources.
The Holmdel Indian Association (HIA) has launched a GoFundMe campaign in response, with a goal of $200,000 to be used towards emergency medical supplies including medical-grade oxygen. The group has already sourced 200 10-liter oxygen concentrators to be funded by the campaign.
According to the organization, more than 4,500 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in India in just a 24-hour period as over 260,000 new cases were registered - but experts think these figures are an underestimation, particularly in rural areas as they are currently experiencing a surge in cases.
