Holmdel Home's Christmas Light Show Set To Music Is A Must-See
"When we moved from Dyker Heights to Holmdel this year, my kids asked me how Santa would find our new house. I knew I had to do the lights."
HOLMDEL, NJ — If you're looking for good Christmas lights in Monmouth County, you simply must make your way to Boxwood Terrace, off Laurel Avenue in Holmdel. This home synchronizes their lights to music; when you drive by, tune your car FM radio to 88.1 and hear the music synchronized to the lights.
They play 20 different songs each night and the light show runs from 5-9 p.m. nightly.
"I had no idea it would become this popular," the homeowner, who wanted to stay anonymous, told Patch. "Every night when I get home, I'd say we have three to five cars parked outside. I hope the neighbors don't mind."

"We used to live in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn before we recently moved to Holmdel – you know, where they have the tour buses that come and look at the Christmas lights," the father of two continued. The family just moved to Holmdel this past August. "So when we moved out here, one of my kids made a comment that Santa would not know where we had moved to. At that moment I knew I had to do the lights. You know, bring a little Dyker Heights to Holmdel."
"I did the lights on our home in Dyker Heights, but it wasn’t until we had our first child and I saw the look on his face when I lit up the tree on the sidewalk for the first time, that I knew I had to do it more," he added. "So I did, adding and adding every year."

How much effort does an incredible display like this take?
"I started planning a month before Thanksgiving," said the homeowner. "I hired the same company that did my home in Dyker to do this home. They just put up the lights and plug it in. I do the design, run the extension cords to where they need to be and label them. I also program and tweak the system. It's a few weekend's worth of work."
This Holmdel house has:
Over 6,000 feet of extension cords
Over 40,000 LED bulbs
Over 20 different songs
Light are on from 5-9 p.m. every night
